India is a huge place with an extremely diverse and varied climate throughout. As a general rule, the best time to visit the most popular places is between October and March; when the monsoons have subsided and the weather is at it’s coolest. There are some exceptions however. The hill stations in both the north and south of the country are great for visiting between April and June and often provide a cooler retreat away from the lower regions, which become unbearably hot during these months. There are some parts of the western Himalayas that are good for visiting during the summer months (June – September) although nights can be very cold. Aside from the weather, it might also be worth checking out this page to see important festivals and events in India, as planning a trip around these dates could definitely make your trip more memorable.
